als vs wenn
When to Use
als = one-time event in the past ('when I was a child'). wenn = repeated events (past, present, future) or conditions. Never use als for repeated past events or present/future.

If you can say 'every time when...' → wenn. If it happened exactly once → als.
als is ONLY for the past. For present/future, always use wenn.
